Ann my Guard is the musical project of Hungarian singer, bassist, and multi-instrumentalist Eszter Anna Baumann. Originally formed as an alternative metal band in Budapest, the project has since evolved into an experimental venture blending darkwave, gothic rock, and folk influences after Anna relocated to the Netherlands, continuing with a completely renewed line-up. Within the artistic realm of Ann my Guard, Anna explores the hidden layers of the self, digging beneath the surface where ancient mythologies guide the listener toward self-empowerment. Following four well-received metal albums, Ann my Guard released the semi-acoustic record She of the Sea and Stars in March 2025. Influenced by darkwave, gothic rock, and dark pop, the album weaves ancient mythological themes with modern sonic landscapes, marking the project’s evolution beyond the boundaries of metal into something more experimental. The album’s strong critical reception opened new opportunities for live performances, leading to appearances at iconic festivals such as Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Stella Nomine, and Fekete Zaj, as well as supporting acts like Antimatter and Charlotte Wessels.
